Ketubah Ceremony (כְּתֻבָּה)
The Ketubah is a contract between the bride and groom. The Ketubah ceremony includes an explanation of the customs of the Ketubah and a signing of the Ketubah.
The Chuppah (חֻפָּה)
The Jewish Wedding Ceremony is held under the Chuppah, a Hebrew word for “canopy”. This structure, with all sides open, symbolizes both the heart and the home of the bride and groom.
The Ring Ceremony (טַבַּעַת)
A main part of the wedding celebration is the sacred ring ceremony. The bride’s acceptance of the ring is the act of legally binding the agreement of the marriage.
The Seven Blessings (שבע ברכות)
At the end of the wedding, Sheva Brakhot (7 blessings) are chanted. Seven people the couple wants to honor are chosen. Each person chosen says one of the blessings.
Breaking the Glass (שְׁבִירַת כּוֹס)
To conclude the wedding ceremony, it is Jewish custom to break a glass. This is to remind us that even on joyous days, we should remember destruction and sadness.
